Hello Canada and the rest of the hockey world, I'm your host Jeff Beukeboom and welcome to this special offseason edition of That's Hockey.
After awarding the Stanley Cup to the Colorado Avalanche, the TUFHL offseason is officially underway. With the 2026 TUFHL Entry Draft and free agency set to happen in the coming weeks, teams wasted no time getting things started following the final horn of the playoffs.
Before we dive into it, we here at TSN would first like to congratulate the Avalanche on their 2026 Stanley Cup win. That was a hell of a series, one for the books. The game of hockey is thriving, so much that word around the zamboni is commissioners Kirk and Randy Blake have even been in talks for expansion to 34 TUFHL teams. That's years down the line though.
Now, what we all came here for, GM nudes, no wait. That's not what the people are tuning in for. Huh. Alright, hockey trades, rumors and player demands. Already we have seen some big names moved, picks dealt and prospects entering new pools. We heard that goaltender Jacob Markstrom has demanded a trade out of Buffalo. The 35 year old tender still has 3 years remaining on his contract @ $5.7 per season. The Sabres are a team that we know will be active in the trade market as buyers. Along with Jersey,Montreal,San Jose and Nashville. Taking a different path Utah has already made some waves as sellers.
A huge blockbuster deal was made, but before we get to that, some the the top of the trade list names have already been moved as we saw Ke'Andre Miller dealt to the Habs,Kadri to the Canucks Ristolainen to the Devils, Zegras the Canes and Byfield was sent to the Peg. San Jose landed Pastrnak and McDavid as part of a package that had Bedard, Demidov and other pieces going back to the Avs in what is sure to be one of the loudest trades in hockey history.
The Vegas Golden Knights are shopping some big name forwards in wingers Filip Forsberg and Alex DeBrincat. The Knights are also looking to move blueliner Seth Jones. All three of which each have 2 years remaining on their current contracts. DeBrincat is on an absolutely amazing team friendly contract with a salary of only $3 million per season. The Sens have placed goaltender Joey Daccord on the trade block with Dman Brandon Montour. Both are pending UFAs at the end of the 2026-27 season. It seems there are a number of goalies available this offseason as the Mammoth are shopping their two young studs in the crease Lukas Dostal and Arturs Silovs. The Nashville Predators are one of several teams rumored to be moving picks.
Some other really interesting names still available include Travis Konecny out in Toronto, Brett Pesce in Detroit and Yanni Gourde in CBJ. A big 5 minute major deal is rumored to be done involving Seth Jarvis and those Devils from Jersey.
With all these big names still in play, Roope Hintz, and picks said to be available. We expect a lot of movement to happen in the coming weeks in what should be a busy exciting TUFHL offseason
