EDMONTON - Having decent special teams and sitting at the top of the Pacific Division, we feel in good shape to make the post season this year. But to achieve the succees we geared up to have, we would like to have some consistency and get rolling on a win streak and finish the second half of the season strong.
Since taking over the GM duties for the Oilers, Cameron saw 2 veteran Goalies leave in Marc-Andre Fleury and Cam Talbot, but brought in youth in Mackenzie Balckwood and promoting Juuse Saros to the number one netminder posistion Fleury left behind.
With an empty prospect cupboard, we are not looking to trade draft picks, however we do not regret trading our 1st round pick to bring in Christian Dvorak who in turn is only 26 years old and has been one of the best players on the roster since aquiring him from Chicago.
We are happy with the core that represents this team each game, but may make a move or 2 by the trade deadline if we feel it will bring us more consistency and makes the team stronger.
For now, we are staying the course and might give Saros a few more rest days in hopes it will help for a long run if we finish this half of the season strong and make it to the post season.
